John Winthrop was one of the most important people to create New England.
He was born in West Suffolk, England and became an attorney and lost a profitable gorvernment appointment in 1629. He brought 1,000 people to America on the Mayflower in 1630 and became the second governor of the people from 1630-1634. The first governor died the first winter from the extreme weather they did not expect. He was also governor from 1637-1640 and from 1646-1649. He contained all of the information of the colony in a journal which taught us what happened and what it was like. He kept this journal and wrote almost every time something happened and was later published as The History of New England.
